Calcific shoulder (calcific tendinopathy)
In calcific shoulder, calcium builds up in a tendon of the rotator cuff. It can go unnoticed for a long time or suddenly cause very severe pain.
Shoulder blade pain
A pulling or burning pain at the shoulder blade often comes from overloaded muscles, sometimes from the neck or ribs. How to find the cause and make the area resilient again.
Wall balls without shoulder pain
Wall balls load the shoulder above all when you catch the ball overhead. Here is how to shift the work into your legs and make your shoulder more resilient with targeted training.
Shoulder Pain at Night
Shoulder pain at night robs you of sleep and energy. Which causes lie behind it, how to position your shoulder better at night and when you should get it checked by a doctor.
Text neck: neck pain from your phone
Long phone sessions with your head tilted down can overload your neck and shoulders. Why variety matters more than perfect posture, and which exercises strengthen your neck.
Shoulder pressing in the gym with impingement
If your shoulder hurts when you press overhead, you rarely have to drop the exercise completely. With a suitable variation, good dosing and strength building, your shoulder can become resilient again.
Rotator cuff syndrome
The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and their tendons that surround and stabilise the shoulder joint. These muscles (the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis) work together to hold the head of your humerus in the shallow socket of the shoulder blade and to allow controlled movement. As the only true ball-and-socket joint in the body, the shoulder offers the greatest range of movement, but this comes at the expense of stability.
Overhead Syndrome (Overhead Athlete’s Shoulder)
Overhead syndrome, also known in English as "Overhead Athlete's Shoulder", is a collective term for various complaints and injuries of the shoulder caused by repeated overhead movements. This overuse mainly affects the structures of the shoulder joint such as tendons, muscles, capsule and labrum (joint lip).
Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
Shoulder impingement syndrome describes a condition in which structures in the subacromial space, the area between the head of the upper arm bone (humeral head) and the shoulder roof (acromion), become pinched. These structures are typically tendons of the rotator cuff, above all the supraspinatus tendon, as well as the bursa lying between them (subacromial bursa).
Chronic neck pain
Chronic neck pain radiating into the arm is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints in modern society. It is characterised by persistent or recurring pain in the cervical spine that lasts longer than three months and often radiates into the shoulder, arm or hand.
Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder, Elbow and Hands
Osteoarthritis can in principle occur in any joint of your body. In the upper limbs, meaning your arms, three areas are particularly often affected: the shoulder, the elbow and the finger joints. Each of these forms has its own particular features and challenges.
Acromioclavicular joint osteoarthritis (AC joint osteoarthritis)
Acromioclavicular joint osteoarthritis (AC joint osteoarthritis) is a degenerative condition of the AC joint in which the cartilage between the collarbone (clavicle) and the roof of the shoulder (acromion) wears down.
Post-traumatic shoulder instability
Post-traumatic shoulder instability often develops after an injury such as a shoulder dislocation or a severe trauma. It describes the state in which the shoulder joint no longer has the stability needed to carry out movements safely.
Locked Neck
A locked neck is a restriction of movement in the cervical spine caused by muscle tension or blockages in the vertebral joints.
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is an inflammatory condition of the shoulder joint capsule.
Whiplash
Whiplash (medically also called cervical spine distortion or acceleration trauma) occurs when your head and upper body are accelerated to different degrees within a fraction of a second.
Shoulder impingement
Shoulder impingement (also called subacromial impingement syndrome) occurs when a bottleneck develops between the roof of your shoulder (acromion) and the head of your upper arm bone (caput humeri).
